Maine Internet Radio Blog for Week of July 6, 2020
Hope your Fourth of July holiday was enjoyable. We are headed to the heart of summer here in our neck of the woods. Everything is looking good ahead for Maine Internet Radio.
All seven streams are sounding great these days. We are adding new businesses that are providing sponsorship for a fraction of the price they would pay for more traditional advertising. One of those great local businesses that have helped us launch our new channel “Nice and Easy” is Forest Ridge Campground.
They are a wonderful oasis located in Ellsworth, Maine. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners last week at the campground and looking around. It’s a great space and offers a lot of amenities. Centrally located, it’s close to Acadia and all of Downeast Maine.
Check them out at www.forestridgecampground.com. They also take reservations and will answer any of your questions. Call 207-664-7070. We will add a few more new local businesses in the near future as well, so stay tuned. These businesses help us pay our bills and keep Maine Internet Radio coming to you free with limited commercial breaks.
We want to welcome to our lineup meteorologist, Steve McKay!
Steve is a well-known figure here in the Bangor market. Many remember him from his radio days on WBGW and of course, NewsCenter 2 as chief meteorologist. Steve has been working with Jeff Solari on Sports Chowdah and agreed to share the forecast across Maine Internet Radio. You’ll hear him hourly throughout the weekdays on many of our stations.
Steve G. put on a great show over the 4th of July holiday weekend. It was a countdown show of the top 100 songs on the charts on July 4, 1976, our Bi-centennial year! Lots of interesting songs that you never hear nowadays on traditional radio. That’s what makes Mainely 70’s distinct. Steve plays everything ’70s with well over 5,000 songs in the library. True variety like radio used to be!
Jeff Solari has been busy behind the scenes tweaking the SCR format. If you give a listen, you will notice the change. He’s added comedy to the mix! Sports, Comedy, Rock. Ah, okay, that’s what the initials stand for. I get it. We will update the logo and descriptions here on the web page as Jeff is well underway with the change.
Give it a listen. As always, give us feedback, please. We would love to hear from you about the new SCR and any of our stations, for that matter. Contact us through the form on the web page. That’s all for this week!
Happy summer!
