Maine Internet Radio Blog for Week of July 27, 2020
Dog days of summer are upon us!
One of my favorite meteorologists, other than Steve McKay of course, is Matt Devitt from WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida. He refers to the weather conditions we are experiencing here in Maine in recent days as “air you can wear.” Don’t worry, Mainers, it doesn’t last long. Unlike my other state, which experiences 90’s for highs daily and 70’s for dew points from April through October, in Maine, we get a few days of really uncomfortable weather.
We wish our best to our good friend and host of the morning show at Wreaths Across America Radio, Michael W. Hale, who ended up in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. Michael had successful quadruple bypass surgery. He is now at home in Downeast Maine recovering. He is doing very well.
Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. Meanwhile, welcome Jeff Pierce to our airwaves, who is filling in for Michael. Jeff has been on the radio for many years and picks up on things very quickly, including how to program the morning show. You can hear him Monday through Friday 6-10 am EDT, while Michael is on the mend!
Steve G. has just brought to me approximately 150 remixes that he has collected over the years to add to the Mainely 80’s playlist. To accommodate, I will start a dance party remix show on Saturday nights. I will be programming that in the next week or two and give you an exact debut night sometime in August.
We are getting ready to add several new local sponsors to Maine Internet Radio. Details will be forthcoming, but I can tell you that these businesses are small local businesses that see the value in connecting personally with the communities they serve. We are grateful to the local businesses that keep us on the air. Without them, Maine Internet Radio would not exist.
The new radio board that we installed into our Mt. Hope Avenue studio is getting a good workout. Again, kudos to Brian Nadeau of Nice and Easy for the equipment. I have been rediscovering a lot of albums from the ’70s and CDs from the ’80s and beyond that haven’t been played in years.
You will be hearing a lot of that diversity on Mainely Alternative. I usually run live from 9 am throughout the day Monday through Friday. That’s it for this week.
Stay safe and enjoy the summer, while it lasts!
